Our Story

Although we are a relatively new organization we are gaining in popularity and recognition.

We successfully campaigned for several elected representatives in our area and are supporting several charitable and worthy causes.

Who We Are

Our organization began in the early months of 2012 as the result of what we will call an "Executive Committee" meeting which took place at the VFW Post 5491 in Mahopac, NY.

Those present , who were all FDNY members of various ranks and including several ex-union personnel, unanimously saw the need for a representative body which could involve both active and retired NYC Firefighters living in the counties east of the Hudson River (hence the name NYFDHVE- Hudson Valley East).

Volunteers to fill the various positions in the organization were sought and agreed upon as the result of discussion and informal presentations. As time went by we searched for a home and meeting place which remains the main firehouse in Mahopac at the corner of Rt. 6 and Croton Falls Rd.

Our membership is open to all active and retired firefighters in the area and beyond who want to stay involved. Please join us as we keep watch over the issues which affect us and our families and as we help our members stay informed.
